On the 19th, Gwangju Seo-gu Office signed a business agreement with GRICO (CEO: Park Jae-min) to establish the “Carbon-Reducing Seo-gu Circular Economy City” initiative.
The agreement ceremony was attended by Kim Yi-gang, Park Jae-min, and related officials.
Kim Yi-gang stated,
“Through this agreement, Carbon-Reducing Seo-gu will further promote a culture of resource circulation. We will do our best to create a cleaner future together with residents so that Seo-gu can establish itself as a leading eco-friendly city.”
Park Jae-min commented,
“Plastic reduction policies are an essential task both domestically and internationally. GRICO will contribute to creating a sustainable global environment by developing alternative materials to replace plastics and realizing carbon neutrality.”
Through this agreement, the two organizations agreed to cooperate in the following areas:
GRICO is an eco-friendly materials company specializing in the development and production of biodegradable plastic products using rice that is unsuitable for food consumption.
In cooperation with GRICO, Seo-gu Office plans to produce 10,000 biodegradable recycling collection bags (120L) and distribute them to resource circulation centers currently operating across all 18 administrative districts. This initiative aims to help residents separate and dispose of recyclables more conveniently.
To further promote a culture of resource circulation, Seo-gu currently operates resource circulation stores in all 18 districts, where residents can collect recyclable materials by category, earn reward points, and receive cash incentives.
